- Realistic art shows subject matter from reality. When viewed it will be recognizable to people because they usually consist of objects from everyday life. Sometimes realistic art takes steps towards abstraction, but not enough to actually be abstract.
- Abstract art is derived from realistic art. The artist takes something from reality and manipulates it so it looks different than the usual way it's seen. Some ways artists make abstract art is by emphasizing lines, shapes, or colors that will transform the art into its abstract form.
- Non-Objective art is created solely for aesthetic pleasure. It takes nothing from reality. All it does is take the elements and principles of art and blends them together to create art that is visually stimulating.
- Often times people confuse abstract and non-objective art. Art is abstract if the artist's subject matter is taken from reality and changed from there. Non-objective art is not taken from reality. The way to remember the difference is to just know they come from different subject matter.

Kristen, Payton, and I made this together. Cities in the 1880's had skyscrapers being constantly built. Workers always had to balance and they were at risk. They ate lunch up there and had conversations. People had been hurt and killed on the job before. This continued to happen through the mid 1900's when this picture was taken.
